Chaste Tree Berry
What is Chaste Tree Berry?
Chaste tree berry, also known as vitex, is a deciduous, shrubby tree native to the Mediterranean which grows 6-10 feet high. In the fall, it boasts beautiful pink or bluish-lavender colored flowers and the berries are somewhat like peppercorns in appearance, deep purple or dark grey in color, with a warm, distinct aromatic fragrance.
Chaste tree berry has been trusted for thousands of years for its beneficial impact on the female hormonal system and its restraining, calming effect on male hormones. Historically, it has also been used to provide relief of paralysis, pain in the limbs, and neuropathic muscular weakness. However, the berries are most widely used to restore homeostasis and function to the female reproductive system by stimulating production of progesterone naturally and helping minimize PMS symptoms, regulating heavy periods, restoring absent menstruation and fertility, minimizing menopausal symptoms and more.
Chaste Tree Berry & Cushing's Disease
Chaste tree berry acts upon the pituitary gland, reducing or increasing production of various hormones. It reads the individual body’s hormonal scape via the hypothalamus gland & acts accordingly to bring balance. Chaste tree berry has a stimulating effect on dopaminergic neurons, which is important for horses with Cushing’s as this disease is caused by a loss of the dopaminergic neurons of the hypothalamus. By balancing hormones, it has a beneficial impact on mood, helping aggressive or cranky horses be calmer, more comfortable and more pleasant.
Chaste tree berry also helps support muscle tone, toplines, healthy coats, and can minimize symptoms of Cushing's disease and metabolic disorders including cresty necks, fat deposits, inappropriate milk production and more. Chaste tree berry can positively influence glucose metabolism, supporting horses with insulin resistance (IR), can help regulate proper shedding, support kidney & digestive health and more. Optimal results can take 3-6 months of faithful use.
